“We’ve had a full life, and we’ve enjoyed seeing every minute of it.”

Georgia and Edward Barksdale have enjoyed a full life during their 50 years of marriage. They’ve raised two successful doctors, worked for civil rights, traveled the world, and maintained the same home since they were first married.

Both are thankful to Dr. Harman for helping them continue to see all that life has to offer.

During his 14 years as Georgia’s doctor, Dr. Harman has treated her glaucoma and removed two cataracts. “My surgery was a piece of cake,” she says. “All I did was lie back and it was over before I knew it. Dr. Harman even called me that evening to check on me.” Georgia says she wouldn’t have gone anywhere other than Dr. Harman’s surgery center, adding that he and his staff were highly professional and caring throughout the process. “I don’t know what heaven is like,” she says, “but his surgery center might be close. Everything was bright and white and clean as can be.”

While Edward, a Lynchburg city councilman, has been fortunate to need only periodic exams, he also says he wouldn’t go anywhere else. “On a scale of 1 to 10,” he says, “I’d rate Dr. Harman a 10. He’s a terrific doctor.”

The Barksdales want you, too, to enjoy seeing what life has to offer. So call Harman Eye Center today.

When you’ve been best friends since the 1940s, you do almost everything together… even surgery.

If you encounter lifelong pals Christine Padgett and Alice Holtzheuer, you’ll find out a lot about fun and laughter. These wonderful ladies enjoy life to the fullest and have seen a lot of it. For over fifty years, they’ve been neighbors and friends.

But recently, their optimistic view of life dimmed. Alice became particularly concerned when confronted with halos of light around people and objects. Then, both she and Christine had trouble reading and driving at night. This was not good news for friends who enjoy frequent outings to their favorite restaurants.

Without hesitation, they contacted the Harman Eye Center and scheduled appointments. They found they both had cataracts – a condition that can severely affect a person’s vision. Dr. Harman answered all of their questions and soon they were scheduled for surgery. After the surgery, both ladies came away impressed with the entire experience. They felt the whole procedure was “painless…you don’t even feel it, you don’t know you’ve had it done…until you begin seeing more clearly right away.”

These lifelong friends also enjoyed not having the hassle of searching for a place to park at a hospital. Instead they were just a few steps from the Eye Surgery Center of Central Virginia’s front door. In little more than an hour, Christine and Alice were ready to be driven home and soon experienced clearer vision.

Today, Alice and Christine are back enjoying their volunteer work with the Red Cross bloodmobile, reminiscing about how they took Branson, Missouri by storm on a recent trip, and driving again at night.

As the ladies will tell you: “The whole process is a piece of cake and Dr. Harman even called us following surgery to make sure we were okay.”

Give Dr. Harman the opportunity to help you today. We look forward to hearing from you.

Her husband had eye surgery at 10 a.m. and was home by noon. Two weeks later, he hit a Hole-In-One.

After almost 30 years, it’s safe to say Tom and Corene Sabol have grown to know each other rather well. So when it became apparent Tom’s vision was becoming a problem, they wanted the advice of someone they could trust and an environment where they would feel comfortable. Based upon reputation and convenience the choice was easy. They chose Harman Eye Center.

It was here Tom learned why he had some painless blurring of vision, sensitivity to light and diminished night vision. He had developed cataracts and decided to have them removed at Surgery Center of Central Virginia.

In Corene’s words, “On the day of his surgery my husband was in by 10, out by noon and we were happily on our way home.” But the good news did not end there. Following a post-operation phone call that evening from Dr. Harman, Tom was soon back on the golf course and scored a rare hole-in-one. And not long after that, he did it again!

Harman Eye Center understands the word “surgery” sometimes makes you, a friend or a family member fearful. We have loved ones too and designed our Surgery Center with a great deal of care.

For Tom and Corene, their wonderful retirement years continue with greater confidence. Their yearly trip to Florida seeing friends and finding time for fishing are now that much more pleasurable.

If you’re concerned about your vision, call us today. We look forward to welcoming you to our offices soon.
